Nickel Prices Up

TORONTO (CPD A Interpational Nickel Company of Canada an- nounced Wednesday an increase in the price of refined nickel of 9'11 cents 1U.S.) per pound. effective today.

This brings the export price of electrolytic refined nickel, from Port Colborne. Ont . refinery. to 74 cents 1U.S.1 per pound. including the IV;-cent U.S. import duty which is paid by the company. At existing exchange rates the corresponding Canadian price will be 70 cents I pound. Canadian cur- rency.

Similar increases w ere an- nounced by the company's United States subsidiary, International Nickel Co. Inc., and its United K' d subsidiary, Mond Nickel Co. Ltd.

The price increase followed

announcement by International Nickel that it would proceed with I Sl75.000.000 nickel development in northern Manitoba The increase. the u n t llld. was "to deal with higher costs and to facilitate maximum production" Similar price changes were an- nounced for nickel oxide sinier and other forms of primary nickel. Corresponding increases also were announced for nickel and nickel ai- loya in the form of mill and foun dry products produced at the plants of the American and Brit- ish subsidiaries.
