Well here we are again for anOther year of hard

the opposite is true. All I can say is that during

our four years here we have sometimes enjoyed our- selves a Iittle too much, but believe us, the good times have outweighed the bad.

In order for us as students to enjoy ourselves to the fullest during our university life we must become involved in the University community. Whether we join the biology club, the photo club, campus police, or just attend the main events at the Barn every.second or third week, our involve- ment shows that we are not apathetic but that we care what is happening and want to either build on what has already been formed,or change it so that it becomes a better organizatiOn.

Last Year, as a result of our Student Union elections, we began to see that our Student Union as an organization on campus lacked many th'nQS- ApathY had‘set in and many said the UPEISU was dying or DEAD. The Student Union Elections produted a spirt unequalled before.

No matter which candidate we were supporting, the basic idea was that we needed someone who cared about what/was happening to the SU andv moresimpOrtantly could do something about it. The elections are now in the past. Where are' the people who Were elected to do something about the Student Union and its problems?

Mr. Brown, our beloved President, was elected on a ten point policy,.much of which he had very little or no control over. He felt that as President he would have a say over everything,and could step or start

anything as he saw fit. Mr. Philip Brown, you only have one vote on Council. You

are a member of the Executive, not the owner. As President you may get a few extra tripS' to various places (ie. Ottawa) but remember that we as students want to know what went

on there, so at least have the dignity to tell us what discos to attend in this fair city. Enough for Mr. P.D. Brown.

complicated ways of doing very simple things.

He too .like Mr. Brown, went to Ottawa and has told us nothing about either the Conference or the SOCial life in Ottawa. The only conclusions

‘we can draw from their trip are that

either they slept through the entire Conference

or spent a great deal of the Student Union's

money on the Pantie Industry. Beware Mr. MacAleer - we're watching you and your antics.

Neil MacKenzie, who divides his time between Bernadine Hall, the Belvedere Golf Course and lastly the Student Union is keeping in the shadows. He fought his Student Union election last year very well but since then he has done virtually nothing. When We went to see Mr. MacKenzie for his comments we were told no one knew where he was. Are you in hiding Mr. MacKenzie or are you just sitting back in Marion collecting your salary? .Show us your face every now and then just to make things look good.

Now that we've introduced you to our “unique” Student Union Executive, otherwise known as the I'Four Saints” of UPEI, we'd like to point out a few of their good points. Because of a lot of

- hard work over the summer, Mr. Brown and his

cohorts have come up with a new medical insurance plan that is cheaper and more beneficial than the one used before at this University. As well the “Four Saints“ came up with the Minglewood Concert which was a success as well as a good time for everyone. BHBS, your criticisms were needed but we're sure that more people attended and en- joyed themselves at the Concert than read your critical article. “The Main Event” held on Sept. 12th featuring Tequilla was also a success, but next time - Mr. Brown - be sure your right hand knows what your left hand is doing. Organization is essential for anything to be a success. Get together with your workers and make Sure YOU as well as they know what they and YOUil! have to do.

In closing we'd like to say that the BARN looks much better than-we've seen it in years. Hard liquor being served upstairs is also an asset and a profitable idea. Keep it up boys - and girl - you're headed in the right direction, just don't slow down or look back. Learn from your mistakes and you will be on the right road 'to reviving the UPEI STUDENT UNION.

This Column from here on out will be entitled “The WatchDog”. It's purpose is to keep a watch- ful eye over the Student Union and its members.

It will only be written when we feel there is a

need to inform the Students of what they should know. This week we've been easy on you - we'll praise when we feel you've done something right but watch out when yOu've made a mistake because we don't like being SHIT ONE! Never have and never will. So until the next time, love and licks.
