Q. How can I clean lace that is very fine and old?
A. If reluctant about launder- ing the lace. shake powdered mag- nesia over it thoroughly, wrap in a towel. and allow to stand for sev- eral days. Then shake out any powder and press carefully.
Q. How can I dispel disagree- able odors from the kitchen?
A. The odors will disappear if sugar or dried orange peels are burned on a pie pan or tin shovel. This can be done over a low gas flame or an electric plate.
Q. How can I freshen stale vege- tables?
A. Soak them for an hour in cold water, to which some vinegar or the juice of a lemon has been added.

In top of double boiler scald 2 cups milk. Beat the yolks of 8 eggs. and beat into them 2i'3 cup sugar. Add this slowly to the hot milk. stirring, and stir until it thickens just-enough for custard to coat spoon. Add a shake of salt. Mean- while have ready ll: tablespoons gelatin which have soaked 5 min- utes ln V. cup cold Water. Stand the custard off heat as soon as it costs spoon, then stir the softened gelatin into it until gelatin ,dis- solves. Cool this to room tempera- ture, then fold into the beaten whites of 3 eggs. Pour half of this into a moistened mold and chill until almost set. Remove from re- frlgeralnr and cover with drained halves of canned apricots. Cover with remaining custard, Chill until set - probably overnight. Serve with

ANSWER: Certainly even an undemonstrallve man who has ask- ed a girl to marry him should show some signs of affection. even the most elementary one of kissing her goodnight after a date. Since he has proposed. you are entirely within the bounds of propriety to ask if he loves you, should he continue to withhold the information, When he brings up the subject of marriage again, tell him frankly that you care for him and would like to marry him but are too un- sure of his feelings towards you. A frank discussion of the problem will clarify many. if not all, of its puzzling aspects.

It is highly probable that he still loves his wife to some extent. though you are worrying needlessly over her superiority in the pul- chrilude department.
