Ancient Treasure Reported In Dead Sea Scrolls, Is Report

MANCHESTER Eng. IR:-uterst Two of the 2.000-year-old "Dead sea scrolls." unrolled by specialists here, have been found to contain a list of the hiding places of a fab ulous ancient treasure hoard. it was disclosed Thursday night.

The two scrolls mentioned 60 hoards of treasure, including 200 tons of gold and silver, hidden in a -mile area near the Dead sea. it official report said some of the treasure "may still be ihere." The hoards are believed to have been buried by the mysterious Jew- lsh sect known as the Essenes. hitherto known as people who re- garded money as unimportant.

The scrolls were taken to Jordan for translation by experts (here after the unroliing at Manchester. Results of the translation then were communicated here.

After Brig. Peake and party in- lpected the corps. Cadet major Robert Shaw led the march past. Demonstrations of rifle mainten- ance and squad drill were carried out. Sgt. Major Walter MacEweiI conducted the squad drill. and Sgt. Roland Sullivan conducted the ri- fle demonstration.

At the conclusion of the exercises Brig. Peake. Capt. MacDonald and Major Yeo addressed the cadets and complimented them on their fine showing. Major Campbell then invited the corps to a film which was being shown at the armouries.
