GRAND FALLS. N.l3. (CP)-A heart aelsura today ended the 3- year political career of Senator Frederick William Plrie and re- duced the 101-seat Senate to S4 movnbers.

The 3-year-old Liberal senator from Victoria-Carleton died in the offices of F. W. Pirie Co. Ltd., a potato growing and marketing firm of which he was president.

BUSINESS PIONEER

Senator Pirle was born In Red Rapids, N.B. and gained a firm foothold in New Brunswick busi- ness as a pioneer in opening Cen- tral and South American markets to New Brunswick potatoes.

His climb to the C nadlan Sen- ate began with his election as an alderman and later mayor of this northern New Brunswick town in the upper St. John River Valley. He entered the political arena at the provincial level in 199. Win- ning a seat for the 0PP0llu0ll Liberals in the legislature.
