This year the Travel Bureau Of- fice put out a. new car sticker and already a tremendous number of inquiries have been received for these from the United States. Some of these ask for as many as 500 stickers and some are from b80919 who saw the 1940 stickers on Unit- ed States cars which had visited Prince Edward Island, and some are through general informal-ion which la sent out from time to time United States and Canada from the Tra- vel Bureau here. Some of the large otl companies operating ln Canada. and the United States have request- ed large quantitle: of these and so there is o. very heavy demand.’ Mr. Rogers showed us some of the actual letters received and one that rather intrigued us was from the President of a large college in Tex- as with whom Mr. Rogers has been in corrc pondence for the past two months. The complete traffic figures for the carferry at Borden are now a- vailable and yesterday were secur- ed from Mr. B. Graham Rogers, Su- pervisor of the Prince Edward Is- land ’l‘ravel Bureau.

A total of 12,826 automobiles came ovcr to Prince Edward Island dur- ing 1940. and this ls an increase of 658 ovcr the previous year. Mr. Rogers gave us a breakdown of the figure‘. and the chief points of interest are that there is an incrcase in Canadian cars and about a fif- teen per cent decrease in United States Cars. From the United States 52_.19 per cent of the automobiles came from the State of Massachu- setts; 220 cars came from Maine; 254 from New York: B9 from Cori- necticut: 92 from New Jersey; 83 from Pennsylvania and 71 from Rhode Island. A rather interest- ing point ls that 47 cars came from Ohio and 29 from California.

Mr. Rogers informed us that the Travel BureamOffice has recently received from two Travel Agencies in the United Slates reque ts for 600 copies of each piece of Prince Edward Island literature. Yester- day a request for literature was re- ceived frcm the 'I‘ravel Bureau De- partment of the famous Brown Der- by chrtln of restaurants in Holly- wood, California. Other requests for quantities of Prince Edward Island literature have been received from zome of the most cifstanding Tra- vel Bureau Agencies throughout the United States and also from almost all of the lawge railroad sys- toms.
