OBITUARY.

Died at Murrav Harbor South, on the 12-b of January la-t, Samnel McLeod, in ibe 74th year of bis age. He was born in Isle of Skye Scotland. He came with his parents toP. E. I. when 4 years of +ge, and lived at Orwell for sometime then went to live in Charlottetown where be marr ed. He came to Murray Harbor South about 46 years ago. Mr. McLeod was a man of more than ordinary intelligeoce, was an tlder for 30 years in the congregation founded by and ministered to by the late Rev. Douald MacDonald, a very remarkable mao ia his day whose memory is still cherished by a large number of peo- ple in this province. Mr. McLeod was Colporteur for two yeare, and during the last 16 years of his life was deprived of his eight. Although during the xe years he was unable to read the word of God for himself bis koowledge of Scripture was clear and extensive, and he could freely quote large portions of the same from memory. He was twice married,left a widow,one brother, an honoured elder in the congregation of Orwall, two sisters Mrs. Livingston of High Bank, and Mrs. Morton, of Orwal!, four daughters and three sons by his firs: marriaze, and two daughters by the *econd. He was a man of great piety and clear Christian experience. Truly the memory of the just is blessed.

Rhodes’ Guarantee.

Loxpon, April 7.— Tte St. James’ Gazette yesteriay aunounced that Cecil Rhodes has now obtained a guarantee from the German Government upon the capital of the German portion of the Cape to Cairo railrcad.
