Word has been received in this Province of the sudden death on May 17th in California oi Mr. John P. Hood, a native oi this Province and former publisher oi The Char- lottetown Guardian.

The deceased, who was 67 years old, died from heart failure while, motoring to Stockton. California, to‘ attend a picnic of the newspaper staff of the Stockton Record. He was travelling alone at the time, and-was found, with his car dltchcd 0n thl! side 0i the‘ road. He had been troub- lcd for some time with a weak heart.

His daughter, Mrs. Ernest W. Beer. oi this city, who returned on Mon- day irom visiting her sister Mrs. D. Mitchell at Calgary. received tcic- I graphic word oi’ her father's death; on the eve of hcr departure for~ home.
