Delay of the Stanley,

Davies on the Right Track

Po Orrawa, May 13. Yesterday was Island Day in the House

of Commons. Mr. Perry brought up the

subject of winter communication. He

work last winter.

Mr. Davies followed, complaining of the delay in getting the Stanley ready last fall, of the want of # resident responsible ofticer on the Island to direct the Stanley’s move- ments.

Hon C. H. Tupper replied that all pa- pers will be brought down, and explained that the cause of the delay last fall was owing to the boilers having been filled with salt water instead of fresh, and that it took three days to get ready, not nine, as charged by Mr. Davies.
