LL PERSONS interested in the CHARLOTTE- TOWN and SOUTHPORT FERRY, are respect- fully notified tha' a PUBLIC MEETING will (I). V..) be held in the NEW HALL. at POWNALVILLAGE Lot 49. on THURSDAY, the 20th January. at one o'clock, p. m. The objects of the meeting are. to call the attention of the Legislature to the state of the pre- sent Steamboat, and to set before them the absolute necessity of immediate attention to providing both safety to lite and property. and sufficient accommoda- tion for the growing wants of the travelling public. It will also he one object of this meeting to ask the. Government to place the people on the South side of the Hillsborongh. on the same footing with their fellow- colonists, with regard to taxation, by placing the Ferry on the list of PUBLIC \VORKS. and making it FREE, instead of being a TOLL, as it has been in the post.
