TORONTO, April 22 - (OP)- Prlces eased off on Toronto stock exchange today as yesterday's re- covery move failed to extend into today's trading. Trading was dull throughout the day with stocks changing hands at slightly lower

levels but action qulckened to- wards close without; changing the trend.

The exchanges closing index listed golds down .15 to 104.83. base metals ,0l to 85.18 and west- ern oils up .08 to 24.02.

Mining issues posted about two losses for each gain but key issues held to prevent the list from 1- cedlng too sharply. Lake Shore and McIntyre advanced fractions for the high priced golds and juniors included good gains for Campbell. Cochenour, Elder, El Sol, Gold Hawk, Perron and Springer. Down were Canadian Malartic, East Ma.- artic. Eureka, I-Iasaga. Lake Wasa, Louvlcourt, MacDonald. Madzcn, Nonbenlte. Oslsko, Quebec Man- itou, Sullivan, Upper Canada.

Bass metals were ahead most of the day but joined in thc down- ward trend toward the close when losses were posted for Smclterl, Denison, East Sullivan. Golden Manltou. Hudson Bay, Nickel, Lab- rador, Noranda.

MONTREAL, April 22 --tCP>- Stocks generally displayed frac- tional weakness on extended vul- ume in only moderately active dealings on the stock exchange and curb market today. All groups re- corded index losses with papers at a new lo\v for‘ the yiear. At. the close losses outnumbered gain; al- most two to one.

Among leaders. Inter-national Paper was thc heaviest loser. down l 1-2 at 45 1-2 alter tout-hing a new y-ear- lc-w at 45.
