Sir,--Your editorial of this morn- ing on prohibition indicates that you fancy public sentiment is healthy on the temperance ques

tion. I am afraid it is a fals security. What are the facts? Take Prince County and you will

That the Act is not a failure can be proven, but a large portion of the country has lost faith in its enforce- ment. When Premier Peters re- fused for years to account for the Scott Act fines, the belief became general among the Conservatives that there was something wrong, that he was using the Act for a party advantage. The situation is certainly very dis- couraging. The temperance socie- ties, Sons of Temperance, Independ- ent Order and W. C. T. U. have lost influence and are practically dead. These are unpleasant statements. but they are true; and what are we ,to do? Our duty is to point out the danger and place the facts before the electors and they should deal with their representatives.
