Snow plows and shovellers have been quite busy since the last week of February trying to at least keep the road passable and in lots of places are ‘having a very strenuous time with banks l0 and up to l2 feet deep.

The report on the recent West Ward pantry sale showed a gratifying sum realized. It was de- cided to hold the Centre Ward pantry sale on Saturday, March 26. and Mrs. James Crichton was .ap- pointed convenor. The DimE-a- Month cards were introduced. —NEW ICE SPORT—A new ice sport was formally introduced to the Province on Tuesday night when a game of broomball was played at the Summerside "airport rink between a team representing the Kinsmen Club of Sumrnerslde and a team drown from the officers at the station. The basic idea of broomball is the same as hockey. There are six men to a team and the object is to get the ball into the opposing net. The differences are that no skates are worn, a ball the size of a volley ball is used in place of a puck and the players wield brooms instead of hockey sticks. Bill Frldgen la the man re- sponsible fcr the introduction of the game here and he says that it is a very popular game in Western Can- ada being played before .large crowds. The game on Tuesday night was vigorously played on both sides and it would be hard to say who seemed to be enjoying it the more, the players or the spectators. In contrast to most games where those participating always seem to wear serious and determined expressions broomball apparently causes the players to laugh so much that the efficiency of their playing is im- paired. Mrs. Michael Ahearn, read the minutes of thelast meet- ing and gave the financial report. She reported a satisfactory amount

and Valentine dance. The financial statement also showed a donation of $10.00 from a member. and this was greatly acknowledged.

It was moved and seconded that all outstanding bills and taxesbo paid. Carried.‘ Plans were made to serve lunch to the cast of the St. Pstrck's Day Concert on March 17th. The meeting .was o. very success- ful one and a large amount of important bluiness was transacted. The different committees made their reports. Mrs. W. R. Oulton reporting for the school advised that hoolu and waste paper baskets had been procured for ihc High School. Mrs. Myrick reported for the visiting committee; several home and hospital visits had been made since last meeting. Mrs. Pike gave the report for the hall com- mittee. The convenor of we Red Cross committee, Mrs. C. H. Weeks. reported progress with the work; she also reported that the Loan Cupboard, procured. by the Instit- ute. was now placed in the West- ern Hospital. and available for the use of those who may need it.
