But nen,like Mr. Cant well, who have been maimed in the service of the public ; men like Mr. John McPherson— honest men who taade use of their opportunities to enrich themselves, but have served the country eutiously and efficiently, and have grown iid in the public employ,- men are surely entitled to special consideration on the part of the Government rather than to suciaary dismissal, without cause assigned. We sincerely trust that the notice to Mr. McPherson will be withdrawn.

“Inasmuch as the booking stations on that railway have been a great convenience to our tarmers and business men, tnis House further learns with regret that it is the intention of the Government to reduce the number of these stations.

“This House further learns with regret that it ia the intention of the Government to dis- charge from the employment of the P. E. Island Railway a number of the employees and officials who have been in that service for many years, and who have merited and gained the contideuce of the public.

“Further Resolved, That this House dis- approves of the action of the Dominion Gov- eroment in these matters, and sincerely trusta its decision will be reconsidered.”

A Rive OLp Ace.—We announce to-day the death of Ewen Cameron, Esq , of Point Prim, which occurred yesterday, at his home st that place. Mr. Cameron had reached the ripe old age of 95 years before the messaye came. He was the father of Captain Roderick Cameron, of the Northumberland, and of Captain Alex- ander Cameron, of the St. Lawrence. He was a native of Scotland, and came to this country in J829, since which time he has resided at Point Prim. He was esteemed and respecie | by all who knew him.

ORNAMENTAL Banp Stanp — We we plewed to hear that Mr. Vinnicombe is urging our citizens to erect an ornamental band stand on Qneen Square for the-pur- pose of giving vocal and orchestral open-air concerts, as well as band performances. He has given us a rough sketch of a reyular Japanese band stand, suv arranged that there will be a room under the platform for tuning instruments, etc. Such a band staud would be a decided improvement to the square, as it would be highly ornss mental, and be a source of pleasure to thousands.
