Sale Of Two Destroyers To ' Egypt Raises MP's Protest

LONDON (AP) - The govern-' ment Monday disclosed the sale of two destroyers to EKYPl- There Wu an immediate protest in the House of Commons.

Minister of State Anthony Nut- tlng said the deal for two class z destroyers was closed May 11. Egypt has paid for the vessels and .i-ranged to have them refitted in Britain.

3:-ltain's class 1 destroyers were built during tfte Second World War. They have a displac ment of 1,710 tons and carry three 4.4-inch guns.

Most of the criticism came from Labor benches but Conservative Patrick Maitland joined by com- plaining about the sale "of arms to those who might turn -them against ua."
