First off, congratulations go out to the UPEI men’s soccer team. The team finished first in their division and hosted the AUS play- offs. :

_ In their first match, the Panthers faced Dalhousie’s Tigers and were able to tie things up late in the game with a goal by Bret Norton. In the overtime, who else but Ryan O’Connell came up with the winning goal.

Sadly, the boys were unable to overcome Saint Mary’s in the championship game.

Big ups also go out to Amy King of the women’s field hockey team. Amy was recognized as the outstanding rookie in the country and named to the second All Canadian team at a ceremony in Vancouver.

On the national scene, the Montreal Canadiens finally axed their head coach and general man- ager.

The Habs have sucked sh** lately and are currently thirtieth in the NHL with a record of 5- 13-2- 0. This, of course, means that the once mighty Canadiens are last behind even the expansion teams that have been added to the league in the last few years.

and sent head coach Réjean Houle, and general manager Alain Vigneault on their way. In their places are Michel Therrien as head coach and André Savard as GM. Hopefully this will light a fire under the Canadiens’ collective a** and get them back up in the standings.
