Do you eat on campus? If you answered yes, then this article pertains to you.

There are three Food Service locations at UPEI; the AVC Cafeteria, the Pit in the Robertson Library, and the new Dining Hall next to Bernardine and Marian Halls. The Dining Hall had both retail ala carte service and the traditional residence dining (i.e. one price at the door). If you would like to have input into the Food Services ion campus talk to your Food Committee.

This committee is established to voice any concerns, compliments, or suggestion you may wish to pass

along to the Food Service. However, the Food Com- mittee encourages students, faculty, and staff to take

their immediate concerns directly to the Food Service.

The Food Committee meets once every three weeks, so if you have anything you want brought up at the meeting, please let these folks know. Better yet, come toa meeting. They are held in the new Dining Hall at 7:45 am, the next one being March Sth.

Minister of Education calls for Student Loan Improvements Charlottetown

Paul Connolly, Minister of Education, met with other © Atlantic Ministers responsible for post secondary education in Halifax Tuesday. They called upon

Robert de Cotret, Secretary of State, to quickly im- plement changes in the Canada Student Loans pro- gramme. The Ministers agreed to urge Atlantic uni- versities to play their part by minimizing any increase in tuition fees.

“We have asked the Federal Government fro an immediate increase in the amount that students may borrow,’’ said Mr. Connolly, ‘‘the continued delays in much needed improvements to the programme are unacceptable.’’

The Ministers stressed the urgency of the situation, in light of government financial restraint programmes at provincial and federal levels which could severely | affect provincial grants to post-secondary educations.

Upon his return, Mr. Connolly expressed his pleasure with the announcement in the Federal Budget speech

Tuesday evening to eliminate the 3% guarantee fee on the student loans and to increase limitsonloansto — needy students.

‘*T was delighted to see the recognition of some of the problems with the student loans program in the Budget Speech,’’ said Mr. Connolly, ‘‘and urge the Federal Government to quickly implement these changes so that students will see at least some im- provement by September.’’
