HALIFAX (CP)-Dr. J. S. Rob- ertson. deputy minister of health in Nova Scotia. said Tuesday few cases of polio have been report- ed in the province this summer and none from those inoculated with Salk vaccine.
"We have been 100 per cent lucky so far." Dr. Robertson said. About 60 per cent of the province's children between five and six years old received the vaccine.
Eight in 10 cases of polio have been reported so far this sum- mer.

..tThe death occurred on April 28 at the home of his daughter. Mrs. Sylveruis Yoston. after a short illness. of John P. Mac- Donald.
The deceased was born at Launching, the son of the late Peter MacDonald and Margaret Walker. in 1873. His wife, Eliza- beth Macbonald. predeceased him 14 years ago.
All his life was spent in Launch- ing where he was engaged in farm- ing. He was a kind i ” and a devoted member of the Catholic church from which he received the last rites by his pastor. Rev. B. J. MacDonald.
His funeral was held on April 31
from the home of his daughter Mrs. Yoston to St. Georges Church. where Requiem High Mass was celebrated by the past- or. who also officiated at the grave. The pallbearers were John J. MacDonald. Jbseph MacPhereson. Joseph Walker, Paul MacPhee. Arthur MacDonald and George MacPhereson. He leaves to mourn three daughte al Theresa (Mrs. Leo Fay Newport.) Marguerite (Mrs. Jos- eph Gardiner) and Elizabeth (Mrs. Sylverius Yoston), one son Fran- cis, at home, one adopted son Joseph Johnston, Poplar Point. QUE son. Leo. predeceased him six years ago. Three brothers, Al- fred. Septimus and Gus, are all of Peabody. Mass.

Ends Hunger
CORAL GABLES. Fla. (AP)- Mra. Martha Blumenbach sipped a glass of milk Monday night to end a three-day hunger strike she started in protest against the mili- tary draft laws. .
"I'll have to take it easy on food at the beginning,” she said. "but 1 hope to regain my health and my strength soon."
She agreed to start eating again after several friends came to talk with her.
She started the hunger strike at 6:30 p. in. Friday after her dentist son, Dr. Thomas Blumenbach. 26. entered the U. S. public health service.
He said he volunteered when his draft board told him he would have to serve in the armed forces. Duty with the public health service is considered equipment to time in the armed forces. ,
