Active for sixty years — constantly improving" and enlarging and modernizing its facilities for the care and treatment of the sick

and suffering.

The gains of the past have been ﬁrmly consolidated and the Hos- pital is today an outstanding‘ institution fully comparable in equipment and service with any hospital serving-r at population of

equal size anywhere in the world.

This community which it serves has been always generous in pro- f, Viding‘ for the hospitaPs .capital needs, and also in assisting an- nually towards its care and maintenance And many ‘citizens of the past have made notable bequests in their wills to its En- dowment Fund, in this way lessening the calls upon the rising generation for maintenance and upkeep- No annual collection

Now an immense Forward Step has become necessary. And it involves very large capital expen ditures- l The number of beds for patients has to be doubled at once- And that means almost doubling the size of the Hospital-

Even emergency patients to- day are frequently unable to get into a hospital in Charlottetown because there is no empty bed and no more corners into which one can be put- Always there

are waiting lists of those whosehospitalization can be delayed.

Much new equipment xvill also be needed. particularly in the opera- tin g‘ and catering departments- And housing must be provided also for a greatly increased staff of nurses and other work'- ers. .

THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS IS THE IMMENSE AMOUNT THAT IS NEEDED- SUBSCRIPTIONS MUST NEC- ESSARILY BE VERY LARGE. ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE TO SPREAD THE ‘PAYMENTS ‘OVER THREE YEARS- THE CAMPAIGN BEGINS THE FIR ST MONDAY IN MARCH.
