Roddy took a few more steps back- ward. Jimmy still said nothing, but raised his tail 1 little higher. Reddy backed a little faster.

"These are nice berries. the nicest berries I ever tasted.” said Jimmy Skunk. Reddy Fox didn't hear it. He was on his way to an- other patch of berries.

Jimmy began eating those ber- ries. Chancing to look over a short distance away he saw Graywing the Gull. Graywing also was feast- ing on berries. Right then and there the berries that Jimmy was eating somehow didn't seem as good as he had thought they were until he saw how greedily Graywing was eating berries. ”Those must bc' extra good berries over there," thought Jimmy and straightway headed for that patch where Gray-

It was absurd. of course, for South to expose himself to such a catastrophe. The spade discard from dummy was not only dangeros but unnecessary. The right discard was a heart -- there was no risk, whatever in blanking the ace. Then. if West made the spade shift. South would have two stoppers- and even against the bad luck of both the diamond and the spade kings lying wrong. South would have gone down only one trick -- 400 points instead of 2200.
