OTTAWA, Oct. N-(CP) — Re- organization of the non-permanent active militia. is expected to be com- pleted about the beginning of De- camber; and from the first of that month all units tn the 11 military districts will be on the new basis. This was learned at defence head- quarters hore today.

Distribution of o. limited number of armored machine gun cars to infantry regiments was made at the same time. This. how- ever, did not go far.

With o. definite interest manl- festizd by the general public in mat.- ters of national defence, the Gov- ernment has reacted to the extent of pursuing a. plan of militia re- organization. It s:heme follows ex- perlments carried on for some con- . sldernble time tn the British army. In general, militia units will be organized into infantry, machine gun, and tank battalions.

Greek Freighter In Difficulty

NEW YORK, Oct. 29—(AP) -— MacKay Radio reported tonight the S. S. Scanyork of the Scandin- avlan-American Lines had inter- cepted an SOS from the Myconos. a freighter of Greek ownership, which reported her in distress l0 miles oﬁ Unshant, France.

No other details were available.

The Myconos is of 1,802 tons gross and is operated from Piraeus, Athens, by the Balkans and Near East shipping agency.

A later message received by Mae- Kay from the radio station at Unshant, France, stated llfeboxits from that place were proceeding to the assistance of the Myconos.

Twister Damages R.(‘.. A.F. Airport At Trenton. One Work- man Near Death.

‘TRENTON, Ont, Oct. 20—(CP) —A score of workmen were injur- ed, one critically, when a Til-mile- au-hour twister screamed over the Royal Canadian Air Force airport a. mile from here this afternoon.

Albert Hagerman, ‘Trenton. is 1n Belleville hospital with terrible head injuries. He is not expected to survive.

Damage from the cyclone was confined almost entirely to the air- port grounds in s strip '75 yards wide and a mile and a quarter long.

Every tree and post in the storm area was levelled and all buildings damaged extensively. Damage is estimated at $15,000.

The storehouse, boiler room. southern wall of No. 3 hangar, cook house and parts of the administra- tion buildings were levelled.

There are about 1,500 men of the R.C.A.F. stationed at the airport, according to Wing commander C. B. Johnson, who ls in charge. Nnne of the men was believed to be scr- iousiy hurt.

All the injured are believed to be men working on a construction jab at the airport. They were caught between a. collapsing brick wall and the scaffolding on which they had been working. At least 20 required medical attention.

Italy Denies Planning To Blockade Catalan Coast

PARIS, Oct. 29—(AP)—The Mad- rid Government, authoritative 3pm}- Lsh sources said tonight, has con- centrntcd a secret army with tanks and aircraft in the southeast for a. rear attack on the Insurgents who have nearly encircled the capital.

This secret army, these sources declared, is equipped with ll0 mod- ern tanks and many new bombing and scouting planes.

Some of the planes, the Span- ish informants declared, were made in the United States and routed indirectly to the Madrid troops. The planes and tanks were said to be basrd at Allcante on the Med- iterranean and at. inland Albaeete.
