_Danny Durant is a first

year science major here at U.P.E.I. The bulk of his courses are in the sciences, namely Bio;,.Chem., Physics, and Computer Science, with

a major emphasis on Biology.

‘Danny feels that he made

gthe right decision in getting his post—secondary education on the Island. For one thing, it's close to home -- “familiar terri- tory” as he puts it.* Even though he was accepted at Acadia as well as U.P.E.I., he decided to stay on the island. This could be an 'important point to bear in mind for potential univer- sity students f; especially if going to college will be your_first away-from-home experience. It may give one a little security to ‘know that Mom and Dad are not lost to you for the rest

' of the semester.

Danny likes_”the system“ at U.P.E.I. and feels that [it is at least on an edual level with other Maritime universities. Danny partic- ularly enjoys campus life. Besides the strolls through Bernardine. Danny has met guys from Singapore, Kenya, Uamaica and Germany. As far as social events go, Danny regularly attends the Pig 8 Whistle, held every Thursday night in the Barn.’ Besides that there is always the occas- ional residence or house party.

,-Eved though Danny enjoys

all the social aspects of campUs life, he still de- votes time to his studies.

He finds that the science courses at U.P E.l. are

much more involved than those‘he had in high school.' Thus, he obviously spends most of his time in study- ing the sciences.

Danny felt that because of poor preparation‘in high school, he found himself quite unprepared for 'university English courses. However he feels that high school gave him a very good basic understanding in/the .field of math and the sciences.

As of yet, Danny is unsure of his future. ‘After graduating with a B.Sc. Danny will have a wide. ‘range of opportunities available to him. What- ever heldoes, Danny feels that the next few years at U.P.E.I. should prove to be very interesting._
