An Act for raising a Revenue. [l’assed April '20, 1860.] \VTHE RICAS it is deemed expedient to fur- ther continue and amend the hereinafter recited Act: Be it therefore enacted, by the Lieutenant Governor, Council and Assembly, as follows :—

I. The Act made and passed in the nineteenth year of the reign of Her present Majesty, intitu- led “ An Act for raising :1 Revenue, and to con- solidate and amend the several Acts therein mentitmed,” save and except such clauses and parts thereof as are hereby repealed, shall be, and the same is hereby continued, with certain al‘nendments hereafter mentioned, until the first day of May. which will be in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

II. From and after the passing of this Act, and until the said lirst day of May, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, there shall be rais- ed, levied and paid, on the several articles herein- after mentioned, imported or brought into this Island from any place or country whatsoever, the several impost duties, rates, or' impositions inserted, described and set forth in figures in the table ofduties hereinafter contained, denomi- nated “Table of Impost Duties,” opposite to and against the said respective articles, as there- in mentioned, described and enumerated, and according to the value, number and quantity thereof, as therein specified; the first column of duties in the said table, denoting the ad valorem duty, or amount payable on every one hundred pounds worth of the article imported, which shall be in r like proportion for any less amount than one hundred pounds worth ; and the second column denoting the specific duty on each article,

and the said duties shall be calculated on the actual value or amount of the invoice when re- duced into lawful current money ofthis Island, which said several duties, rates and impositions, shall be in lieu of all duties, rates and imposi- tions imposed by the hereinbefore recited Act; and the amount of any invoice of dutiable goods imported from the United States of America into this Island, made out in dollars and cents, shall, fo ' all the purposes of this Act, be reduced into the current money of this Island, by allowing for each dollar the sum of six shillings of the said current. n’ioney, or such other sum as the Lieu- tenant (Rovernor of this Island, in Council, shall, from time to time, fix anzl determine the rate so lixed by the Government, to be published in the Royal Gazette, weekly, and in like proportion for any smaller part or fraction ofa dollar.
