UPEI seems to be quite a hive of activity these days before the cold of winter puts everyone back to sleep for a few months. intramurals and varsity sports are getting under way. the only way that they can be fun and successful is if you get out there and participate. so excercise your body as well as your brain.

if you are really into excercise, crawl up to the top floor of Main building and offer your hands to the creative side of the university life. the SUN needs writers (creative and othenwise), layout people (no pun intended), and anyone else. if your specialty happens to lie in cleaning windows and flOors, you will be especially welcomed. if you become a dedi- cated Sun staffer, be prepared for late nights (as in h a.m.). if you do have a column or any other piece for viewing in the Sun, please be sure that it is in by the monday noon before printing day. we cannot keep our layout people busy on monday nights if we have no mat- erial for them. so please show an interest in the Sun, even if it is to read it. otherwise mr. t.w. mcaieer down at the barn will cut our already tight budget.

it was encouraging to see the barn filled to capacity friday night, as everyone showed up at the first wet Main Event (Pig) of the year to see the Taquilas. the people on the doors could have been better prepared for the crowd, but they managed. many thanks to our punk friends who aided'in creating conversation be- tween total strangers. they must be commended for the

entertainment and the low profiles they presented, not at all like “punkers” in other more savage parts

of the country.

although UPEI is often referred to as a "suitcase university“, it seems that many stayed around purpose- fully for the pig. if the crowds continue to show so well for these friday nights, then perhaps the Student Union will not run up so much of a deficit this year. it is being nosed around that some good names are expected to play here (Downchild Blues Band, Sam Moon), so it may be a good year for the Student Union.

according to a little birdie, the breakin at the barn last weekend was a joke. evidently those who illegally entered the barn drank only their own quart and had a few games of pool. although the SU may have made some money from the pool game, it would have been nothing compared to the amount of damages. how can they be expected to make any money if they have to cover the cost of damages for someone else's prank?

finally, we wish a sincere apology to all our readers for the used and boring quality of our headlines. Hermie our headline machine has decided to extend his summer vacation and we are having difficulty in finding any- one willing to attempt-to fix such an antique. so bear

with us please.

Dear Editor:

At the pig Friday night it was quite evident that the UPEISU has started acting, but I have a few suggestions that hope- fully may be looked at seriously. The bar cannot be increased in size, but they could utilize the old cafeteria on the third floor as an additional bar to handle the overflow. Many people had to wait and then were ignored by the bartenders as they served others.

In the gamesroom, there was evident lack of control

over the pool table as balls disappeared or were removed from the table to quicken games. Another problem was with the CP's carrying drinks from first floor to second floor.

The door should be oper- ated such that the people in line don't wait while the CP's figure out how many are allowed in. This should have been known earlier. Other than this, i think everyone there had a good time, sober orgdrunk.
