“Americans, on the other hand. have learn-ed to expect. not merely accept, the wealth of re- sources in universities," Conway observes. “But then, you have to realize this is the world's richest country."

Conway. who jokingly describes himself as “single. aging but hopeful." teaches Canadian his- tory to Harvard undergraduates.
