THE directory dispute ls settled and Dr L. A. McAipiue and H. M. McAipino will publish the St. John book of names and addresses, while the McAIpine Company will have Halifax and P. E. island. The case of theMcAlpine Publishing Company of Halifax vs. Dr. L. A. McAlpine and ii M.McAlplne.of the St. John was amicably settled out of court. The suit was the result of an announcement by Dr McAl- pine nnd‘hls brother of their intention of publishing the St. John city directory this year. It was also announced that the subscribers of last year's McAlpine's directory had promised to subscribe to the directory of the McAlpInes of this city. The McAlp'lno'Publishing Company of Halifax brought >n suit. The trial promised to be a costly one as witnesses ‘were to have been brought from several parts of the maritime“ provinces.
