N pursuance of the Act of the General Assembly of this Island, made and passcd in the Seventh year ofthe Reign of His late Majesty King William the Fourth, intituled fin Act for levying an flssessmcnt on all Lands in this Island—I do here- by publicly notify the Owners or Occupiers of Land Within this Island, for which the Annual Assessment charged thereon b the said recited Act, of Four Shillings, lawful money of this Is and, for every Hundred Acres of wilderness or unimproved Lands contained in the several Townships, and the several Islands bov longing thereto; and the sum of Two Shillings for every Hun- dre Acres of cultivated or improved Land in the said several Townships and Islands as aforesaid; and the sum of Four Shil- ling for each and ever uncultivated or umimproved Town Lot, Pasture Lot, Common 0t and Water Lot, granted in the Town and Royalty of Charlottetown; and the sum of Two Shillings for each and every cultivated or improved Town, Pasture, Com- mon and Water Lot as aforesaid; and the sum of'l‘wo Shillings and Bi htpence for each and every Town Lot, Pasture Lot and Wateriot, granted in the Towns and Royalties of Georgetown and Princetown; and the sum of One Shilling and Fourpence for each and every cultivated or improved Town, Pasture and Water Lot, granted in the said last-mentioned Towns and Royal- ties, and so in proportion for a less quantity ; and the sum of One Penny per acre on each and every acre ofcultivatcd or improved Land in the Royalty of Georgetown, called reserved Lands ; and the sum of Twopence per acre on each and ever acre of ucli Lands us run be deemed uncultivated or improved ands, is pay- able, that un ess the Assessment for the current year be aid into my hands, or the hands of my Deputies, on or before the wenty- first of December, 1841, I shall, on the. last day ofthe next Hilary Term, at Charlottetown, make Proclamation of all such Lands as shall then be In arrear for non—payment of the sums charged thereon, agreeably to the directions of the said Act.

H. Peters, the following Prospectus, for the formation ofa Society to encourage Emigration from Great Britain to Prince Edward Island, was agreed on ‘:—- ,

1. That a fund shall be raised, to defray the expenses ofthe undertaking.

2. That every person subscribing the sum of Five Pounds, shall be entitled to select from Emigrants consigned to the Society, two Servants, male or female, of the following description, viz: domestic servants, as grooms, gardeners, &c., or one farming bailifi‘ or cook.

3. That every person, on paying Two Pounds Teri Shillings, shall be entitled, in the same manner, to one servant; but In the cases offarriiing hailifi‘ or cook, Five Pounds must be paid. .

4. Three farming labourers will be considered as two domestic servants, and paid for accordingly.

5. Two male servants or labourers, under 18 years ofage, and two women (not cooks), to be considered as one adult man

servant. ,

6. An Agent will be appointed in London, with several correspondents in the country, to transact the business of the‘ Society, in respect to forwarding Emigrants, and afi'ording them necessary information.

7. This Agent shall be authorised to advance, in part payment ofpassage, £2 for every adult, and £1 for every person under 14 years Of age, and of age to be employed.

8. The Society will forward to their Agents instructions ap- plicable to every class of Emigrants, whether designing to take Land, and whether possessed of small or larger capital; like- wise, the necessary information for artisans, and all others; and with any parties the Society will be happy to correspond; and it will be their particular aim to contract for and facilitate the passage ofall descriptions. .

9. A particular Register will he kept by the Agéants respecting the wants of the Colony, in all particulars as to migrants; but no pecuniary aid will be given by the Society to any other classes ofpersons than those before enumerated. Openings for particular occupations will be particularised.

Edward C. Haythorne, and William Swabey, Esqrs., will afford any further information and receive subscriptions.

The number ofsubscribers is already considerable.

HESE Medicines are indebted for their name to their manifest and sensible action in purifying the sprinvs and channels oflife, and enduirig them with renewed tone add vigor. In many hundred certified cases which have been made public, and inalmost every species of disease to which the human frame is liable, the happy efl‘ects of Moffat's Life Pills and Phenix Bitters have been gratefully and publicly acknowledged by all ersons benefited, and who were previously unac- quainte with the beautifully philosophical principles upon which they are com ounded, and upon which they consequently act. ‘he Life . edicines recommend themselves in diseases ofevcry form and description. The first operation is to loosen from the coats of the stomach and bowels the various impurities and crudities constantly settling around them; and to remove the hardened fteces which collect in the convolutions of the small intestines. Other medicines only partially cleanse these, and leave such collected masses behind as to produce habitual costive- ness, with all its train of evils, or sudden diarrhoea, with its immi- nentdangers.
