The president. Mrs. Clarence Murphy presided. and the roll call was answered and the min- utes of the last meeting read and approved.

Anglers Ready For Season Opening

..!Attgling tales begin today as another fishing season gets under way. and anglers move into their favorite spot where they caught the "big one" last year. Prepar- ations for today have been going on In Montague for the past week..Rods were rebound and shcllaced. reels oiled, and new lines bought. and of course, the inevitable can of garden files is ttll ready, in lure that will attract even the most fastidious trout.

'Ml'S. Cecil Campbell and Mrs. Robert. Campbell were joint host- cases to members of the whim Road Women's Institute when they met for their regularmonth-

ly meeting on Tuesday evening. April 1st. Tlicrc were eleven members and four visitors pre- sent.

The president. Mrs. Wesley Campbell. opened the meeting with the "Institute Creed" rc- pcutcd by all. As this wits the

occttslon of the birthday of one of the. hostesses. Mrs. Cecil Camp- bell. R gaily wrapped box was presented to her. When it was opened, it was found to contain it mechanical mouse-the occasion also being April Fool's Day. Mrs. Campbell with her usual good humour enjoyed the joke along with the other members.

Roll call was answered by a footstool that had been made for the King's County Hospital in Montague. Two of those were re- ceived. Those not bringing a footstool donated a pencil for the pencil box. In the absence oi the secretary. Mrs. Webb Nichol- son attended to the business pro- cedure by reading the minutes of the previous meeting and the corrcspondettoe received during the month. A note of apprecia- tion was read from one who had! been remembered during illness. Among the correspondence also was a receipt frotn the polio foundation for a donation sent in by the Institute during the ”March of Dimes” campaign.-

Completed work for the Red Cross. consisting of two tuiiics and one pair of overalls. was handed to Mrs. Cecil Campbell, the Red Cross eonvcnor. Further work was ordered. Cod liver oil capsules were distributed to those requiring them.

The different committees gave their. reports as follows: School-It was reported that

the school was badly in need of scrubbing and it was decided that this would be attended to by the members in the near future. be- fore the Easter vacation.

Sick--The sick committee re- ported one call made during the month and a I treat provided. Tho ed on the new coin- mittce e Mrs. Garnet Moore and Mrs. M. 11. Munro.

Entertainment-The new enter- tainment committee appointed was Mrs. M. J. Munro and Mrs. Les- lie Stuart.

On the kind invitation of Mrs. George Clarey, the next place of 1 meeting will be at her home. It was decided that for the roll call members would respond by ask- ing I question on any subject.

Mrs. Webb Nicholson gave a very interesting demonst nation on making a purse from crepe pa- per. Bhe also pointed out that other articles could be made in much the same manner. The crepe paper. which had been cut in strips, was drawn through a narrow opening to form a thread. The threads were woven on it circular piece of cardboard and the resulting circle of "crepe paper material" was folded and then lined and sewn with a zipper. The finished purse. in the shape of a half moon. was given a coat of shellac. The purse which Mrs. Nicholson displayed was very pretty and was admired by the members as it was passed around.

A penny sale was held by Mrs. Robert Campbell and the holder of the lucky ticket. chosen by Mrs. J. N. MacDonald, was Mrs. Webb Nicholson. Winners of the different contests put on by Mrs. Betty MacBeth and Mrs. Webb Nicholson. who were in charge of the evening's entertainment, were Mrs. J. N. Me.cDonald and Mrs. George Clarey. A gamezof twenty questions was Joined in by every- one. .
